Chrysler Recalls Over 330,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees Due to Steering Concerns

Chrysler has announced a recall affecting more than 330,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to safety concerns related to potential steering issues. The recall comes after the discovery of faulty parts that could lead to steering failure, posing a risk of accidents.

The affected SUVs may contain defective upper control arm ball joints and steering knuckles, which could separate while in operation. This separation could result in the steering wheel detaching, potentially causing drivers to lose control of their vehicles. The recall covers specific models, including certain 2022-2023 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs, as well as the larger 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Although the percentage of affected vehicles with defective parts is relatively low at just 1%, Chrysler is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its customers.

Despite the recall, Chrysler has reported only a limited number of incidents related to the defect. As of January 24, the company has received 18 warranty claims, one customer assistance record, and one field report potentially associated with the issue. In addition to the recall concerning steering concerns, Chrysler has issued a separate recall for approximately 9,400 2023-2024 model year Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L SUVs. To ensure consumer safety, Chrysler will notify owners of affected vehicles on April 12, providing instructions on how to address the identified issues. Chrysler’s dealerships will conduct necessary repairs or replacements free of charge, prioritizing customer safety and satisfaction.
