Cloud Imperium Games (CIG), the developer behind the ambitious space sim Star Citizen, has confirmed layoffs within its workforce as part of a relocation plan, stirring controversy among former employees. While CIG acknowledged the staff reductions, the exact number of affected positions remains unspecified.

Star Citizen, known for its extensive crowdfunding campaign spanning over 12 years, has garnered both acclaim and criticism for its prolonged development cycle and ambitious scope. In 2022, the company relocated its operations to Manchester, England, with promises of job creation and growth.
