Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Brings Enhanced Experience to Epic Games Store

Players diving into the remastered editions of Tomb Raider 1-3 on the Epic Games Store have noticed a slew of enhancements that set this version apart from others, offering a more polished and immersive gameplay experience.

Small Medipack, a user on the Epic Games Store platform, highlighted several improvements exclusive to this version. Notably, the Nevada level in Tomb Raider 3 boasts enhanced textures and animations, resulting in an overall “more polished” look. Additionally, the photo mode on the Epic Games Store version offers a wider variety of poses, totaling 21 options for players to capture Lara Croft’s adventures in style.

Among the notable differences are more realistic snowflakes, added ceilings in the Greece levels to simulate light holes, and a distinct skybox in the Colosseum level. Small Medipack also praised the Modern Controls feature, noting that the camera feels more stable and responsive compared to other platforms.

Despite these enhancements, some players have reported issues with achievements on the Epic Games Store version, pointing out that they appear to be broken. This discrepancy highlights that while certain aspects of the game may be improved, there are still areas that require attention from developers.

Eurogamer reached out to Aspyr, the developer behind Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, for clarification on the differences observed by players. However, as of the time of reporting, the developer has not officially addressed these discrepancies.

The remastered editions of Tomb Raider 1-3 arrived earlier this month to both acclaim and criticism. While the updates have breathed new life into these classic titles, some players have noted that certain elements still feel dated. Eurogamer’s review awarded the collection four stars, acknowledging its meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful updates, despite lingering frustrations with outdated mechanics.

“I still love this collection, because it’s carefully made and lovingly updated, but also awkward, elbowy, frustrating and prone to leaving me stuck. It’s a collection that understands that Tomb Raider was absolutely a game about its controls, and it still should be – even if it doesn’t quite know how to deliver on that,” Eurogamer noted.

As players continue to explore the remastered editions on various platforms, the differences observed on the Epic Games Store version serve as a testament to developers’ ongoing efforts to enhance and refine the gaming experience.
